Shepherd is an HP neighborhood. It is located between Pennsylvannia Ave West to the West side of N Youngs Blvd and NW 25th North to NW 30th. Residents gather at Swatek Park for ice cream socials, picnics, and annual cookouts. The Neighborhood Association holds “Yard of the Month” to residents who maintain their landscapes. Walkscore gives the neighborhood a score of 60 in terms of walkability. It is close to the Oklahoma City University. Buy-For-Less & Walmart serves as the neighborhood grocery stores. The average Shepherd home costs $169k. Homes in the neighborhood were built of only brick, stone, and some stucco. No bungalows were allowed in this area. Many houses were constructed during the 1930’s.
The neighborhood is named after George Shepherd who owned the homestead. It was later sold and platted by the M.A. and Lottie Swatek.
